What to Eat Before a 6 AM HIIT Class (and What to Skip)

The 6 AM crew asks this more than any other question: should I eat before class?

The honest answer: it depends on your stomach, not on internet dogma. Some members train great fasted with just water and electrolytes. Others feel flat without fuel. Both are physiologically fine for a 60-minute class.

If you eat, keep it small and fast-digesting, 30–45 minutes before class: a banana, a slice of toast with honey, a small handful of dates, or half a bottle of a carb drink. You want quick glucose, not a sit-down breakfast.

What to skip before the PIT: heavy fats and big protein portions (slow to digest, heavy on the sprint blocks), and anything high-fiber right before class. Save the eggs and oatmeal for after.

After class is where the real meal belongs — protein plus carbs within a couple of hours. That window isn't as magical as the supplement industry claims, but consistency there compounds fast.

Put it into practice.
